Someone in MLB threw a no-hitter which I'm sure is interesting to someone.

The Blue Jays still just have one in their history. Dave Stieb a-many years ago.

The rate these things happen, it seems like we should have more. All these years and all the Cy Young winners. I think we've had at least 5 (??)

Not that you need to be a Cy Young winner to throw a no-hitter.

But anyway, buddyboy tonight was the first no-hitter since that other guy.

Actually no, Blue Jays have only had 4 Cy Young winners. Halladay's second was with the Phillies (as, speaking of no-hitters, his no-hitter and perfect games were also with the Phillies - the no-no in the fokking playoffs no less.)

Anyhoo, Blue Jays win and pull within half a game of the division lead and elbow out a little more breathing room from wildcard hopefuls.

Price gets an easy win. Trout was an ofer while Donaldson was a 3-1-2-3 with a walk.

Nuther night game today. 9 o'clock EST (6 o'clock local time? Really? :dunno: Guess so.)

Bada boom, bada bing.

Actually, the game is delayed half an hour as the Angels induct Dean Chance and Tim Salmon to the Angels Hall of Fame.

I looked up what was going on on the Angels official website - and it reports a third inductee: Mitt Witt. That's what it said on the official website. Mitt Witt.

But further investigation confirms my suspicion: Mike Witt. The official team website had their HOF inductee's name wrong.

Yankees won today.

good luck to the Jays

i'm looking forward to when this young man makes it to the show in 2016/17

Rowdy!!!

FYI the Blue Jays tip off at 3:35 this afternoon. Be there or be square.

I'll tell you what bothers me most about this team - and it relates to today's game: R.A. Dickey.

Nice guy - engaging guy - sometimes-effective-at-his-job guy.

But I have no faith.

He has had an excellent last little while. 6 weeks? Reminiscent of his Cy Young year. But in this case, even after that stretch, it only brings his ERA down to 4.14. In other words it was like 5 before.

The good stuff has been good. But that other stuff counts too.

People always argue that the virtue of R.A. Dickey is he eats up innings. I agree. He eats up innings - while giving up a run every other one.

:dunno:

I hope my fears are unfounded and he can kick ass from here on out - but there is just something unsettling about a pitcher who only has a vague idea where his pitches are going.

As much as I pump the tires of the Blue Jays offense, this Angels defense has been just as conspicuously bad.

Ain't complaining. A couple free runs in the 2nd - I'll take 'em - but man, Mike Scioscia is gonna be nurturing some ulcers after this weekend.

 Nuther Angels error. That's 6 for the 2+ games of the series so far. Plus there have been a few other half-assed plays that didn't get scored as errors. Plus a few bases loaded walks. Mike Scioscia is just seething over there.

I almost feel like, guys, thanks but you don't have to do that. Our offense will take care of it.

But okay.

5-1 first inning lead ---> gone. 6-5 Jays.

Also,

Yankees loooose, Yankees loooose, Yankees loooose . . .
