How bout them Jays!

Some controversy in Jaysland. Because they have three off days in the period of a couple weeks, they have decided to cut back to a 4 man rotation for that period. They can basically go through that rotation 3 times and keep everyone on normal rest.

So the odd man out is Drew Hutchison, our opening day starter, and wet dream of stats nerds who want so badly to make the case that wins and losses don't matter AT ALL (since he is 12-2 while actually being pretty crappy a lot of the time but benefiting from some extreme offense).

Anyway there is not much debate that he is the weakest link.

Where there is some argument though is they sent him to AAA Buffalo with the idea he can keep on his regular schedule as well. But then the question is, will that "demotion" hurt his feelings and/or disrupt the chemistry during a pennant race? They could find ways to keep him with the club and have simulated games or use him in long relief if the opportunity presents. If they wanted to.

Drew Hutchison has a slightly below average FIP (3.96).

3.80 is average and 2.90 is excellent for example.

12-2 with that FIP can only mean a ton of run support or he's getting lucky on batted balls.

But it's not like he's pitching like a 3-9 pitcher either.

Sounds like the Blue Jays have problems many teams would kill for.

Life is a lot simpler when your team sucks. It doesn't feel necessary to watch any of the games - so that is time for other things. There is less stress. Suddenly I am worried.

Is Baltimore going to come on? Look at who they've got. Lookit who Texas has. And we have to play both of them. Baltimore twice. As well as the Yankees twice more. Anaheim can play and now we're heading in there.
