Wow. You spent 5k of your own money on other peoples kids?

Everyone keeps saying do it for the right reasons....what are the wrong reasons to volunteer for?

* Aspirations of impressing Internet pussy
* Passage into heaven
* Touching kids

I think those are a few decent examples of wrong reasons to volunteer.

Blitty the more important things are the right reasons to do it.

Love kids.
Love helping kids develope atletic skills or improve on existing skills.
Helping kids develope life skills that do beyond just sports.
Helping out your community.
Setting an example.
In many instances you are providing a positive role model and even father figure for many of the youth you coach.
Builds character for both the kids as well as yourself.
Teaches you humility and patience.
Builds pride and a sense of accomplishment.

Teela is not impressed when people try to read her.

Sorry Wal, but this is a FAIL.

Robyn, when it comes to the ladies of GameLive just about everything I do is a fail so I'm good with it.
My jokes aren't jokes, my sarcasm isn't sarcasm, nice isn't really nice, my opinons are judgmental, so I know where I stand.

I tell you, the idea that you shouldn't get into volunteering for the wrong reason is over-rated. When I first started, I was mainly chasing a chick. Wrong reason. But I still managed to help some people and that gave me an unexpectedly good feeling and bing, bam, boom, before you know it, I'm wanting to do it for its own sake.

Now I admit some reasons are just TOO wrong. Like doing it to touch kids was a good example.

You may wonder if I got the chick I was chasing. The answer is yes. We split up after a couple months but the volunteering remains with me 20 years later.

Good say Muddy.

That was pretty much my basis of thinking on the whole deal. Like I'm still gonna have to: Drive an hour into new jersey, pay $30 for 7 hour class, spend countless hours with these kids...Which I'm obviously gonna put an effort into coaching while I'm there with them. What's the big deal if I mention what I'm doing to a date? Wally and Robyn make it seem like I'm such a horrible person for bringing that up in a conversation...

I think it's the guys that aren't there to score chicks that you have to worry about. They might like the kids too much if you know what I mean.
