Actually we need more to speak up on issues.

No argument, there.

What's scary, though, is that divisive, over-simplified rhetoric is what seems to resonate with the most people.

Intelligent discussion that respects all sides of the issues is out there, but it sure doesn't get the ratings. And whatever gets the ratings is what gets crammed down our throats.

The Al Jazzerra network should be to your liking. CNN and Fox are borderline unwatchable.

you got the chicken before the egg here.
They media who is owned by certain interests bombards the public with simplistic slogans (you can fit advertizing mentality in there) and other meaningless shit not because we want it originally, but because they set the agenda. And after a while the public gets trained to respond to the stimuli.

What I'm saying is its not an innocent happy coincidence for elites that the public appears to have little patience for meaningful discussion. It is by design.

free-thinking driven people stand a better chance of being elite, no?

LOL is this the part where we punish the successful people?

Always loved that.

I say fuck everyone, if you can make money do it, and those who don't like it, should fuck off. That's why I started my side business, so no one else could have 1 cent.

Not at all. I am surrounded with success, but I also see first hand the cost at which it can come. Of course it is better to be rich than to be poor, but sometimes I just have to laugh at some the ridiculousness of some of it all.

It depends on what they're successful at. If they are successful at impoverishing others, creating wars and destroying the ecosystem then yes. We punish them real good:cop:

Jewry?!?

:littleboy:

Entertainment was always meant to keep the masses happy enough not to become unruly.

I contend that, even without mass media and infantilizing pop culture, the mass of men just want to eat, shit and masturbate in peace.

You're overthinking things comrade.

Your smiley is too big Matty :redcard: Interestingly, part of what the mass media does is it invites us to believe that the majority of people are simpletons. Since thats who they keep presenting us with. :poke:

I suppose it depends on your definition of self-absorbed

I measure it not by taxes (though I pay plenty) but by running a volunteer commitee in my home town

See lots of people talk about giving and helping but very few actually do
