I doubt you'll answer this but do explain how people become evolved enough to keep it in perspective?

I was idly wondering in the last day if Germans actually feel like they're not entitled to celebrate things due to Hitler residue. But then in my mind it was like, "Naw, that can't be right."

I brought up the topic with a German dude that works here (whose new nickname is Schweinshteiger) and he said in all seriousness that yes, that's a thing.

They're whooping it up (awkwardly) in the mother country.

I saw some random footage of celebrations from Germany. A strong impression I got: definitely not the intense focus on the flag you would see in many (most?) places.

What is that lonely flag in the back anyway. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the smaller version in that vine that's making the rounds where the handful of players are shuffling in, waving them low.

It obviously isn't the German national flag - but what?

It's a German flag with the emblem of the German football federation. It has the eagle on it. Google the players jerseys and you will see that emblem over their hearts.
