The right to defend yourself is outdated? What baffles me is NYC, for the most part, is a gun-free zone...not sure how this shooting happened ine the first place. I'm curious how quickly this would have ended if law abiding citizens were allowed to exercise their 2nd amendment rights (carry a firearm) in NYC?
more people would have died..didn't you hear the police hit some bystanders with stray bullets..imagine citizens shooting at each other in a busy street.

How quickly what would have ended?

Guy shot one dude he didn't like. Officers shot 10 people. If there had been no police, there would be 1 dead and no wounded.

You think if the police went into the movie theater and saw a bunch of people shooting that they wouldnt take them all out?

Sounds like the NYPD shouldn't be armed then. No responsible gun owner shoots without knowing what's behind the target (especially given the statistics regarding accuracy and performance of law enforcement under stress).

I am not a cop but by the looks of this video it seems as though the NYPD appears to be lacking basic knowledge as to how to approach subjects suspected of murder.

I feel less threatened knowing I have options should someone break into my home or attempt to assault/rob me on the streets. I'll have a chance, the unarmed citizen will not.

I would shoot if someone broke into my house also. How about if you were on the south side of Chicago Thursday when 13 were shot in 30 minutes. Would you shoot there? What if everyone shot since they all are carrying guns? These people don't value life the same way you or I do. What if everyone shot in the Aurora movie theater?

Not sure what that means but it scares me.

Good thing I'm 'down' with the brown browns.:cheersbuddy:

You guys are having the wrong debate. Kids used to walk down the street in the 40's and 50's with a gun and they never shot anyone. Hell they had gun safety as a regular class in school. No one shot up the place. Something changed in our culture. I can't be certain but I think it has something to do with The Fonz.

AAO thinks like a 13 year-old. It's cute.

Listen, if you want to say, "I love guns. Guns are really important to me. The lax state of gun laws in the States obviously leads directly to a lot of unnecessary death and injury but guns are so important that it's worth it." - then that's fine. I mean, it's not fine - it's stupid - but there are no particular logic glitches. It is not dishonest.

But if you want to start making arguments about how the USA's lax gun laws aren't related to the astronomically high rates of gun activity compared to the rest of the developed world - then you are on tilt. You are pathologically arranging flawed arguments to get to the conclusion you want to reach. You have gone goofy in the head.

And yeah, if you are thinking that more guns in the hands of average Americans would somehow bring dangerous situations more under control, you are 13.
