I would rather love.

I dont have enough experience to join the consensus though. I dont know if I have ever truly been loved. Family not withstanding of course. I been told I love you before but was it real or were they just wanting something in return or being nice?

They arent around anymore so did they really ever love me? I dont think I did something to push them away or betray their love but if I dont trust that others could love me how do I know that I didnt in fact ruin it and fool myself into thinking otherwise.

Damn you Muddy, as if I didnt have enough shit to contemplate, you have to go and throw this on me as well.

I think it's a very vague meaningless question in it's current form.

Are we talking about having love for the flowers and trees and shit. Sure that's great, if you can feel great love for that, obviously without needing to be loved back.

Or are you some celebrity who gets some kind of love from strangers you never meet. That's ok two I suppose.

Or are you some guy who loves some celebrity or prominent figure... like Die Antwoord :dunno: that's fine too.

When it comes to people you know however, it has to be a two way street. I mean, part of what makes you love them/her/him is the love and respect they show you. Otherwise it's not really love but an obsession or some negative thing.

I'm a secret hater, MonkeyF0cker. I would rather hate than be hated. It hurts my feelings when people don't like me. I visualize these great plane crashes with the people that I don't like flying. Sometimes, I'll just look at a person and say "wood chipper." They're the folks I would push in a wood chipper without a second thought. If there was one nearby, I occasionally worry that it might become a reality.

Wait...what's this thread about?

Ever post something only to discover later when you come back it's not there? You got so caught up in your reply that you actually hit the Holigan's tab instead of post reply. I do, and I hate doing it.

I had such a good reply to Reno and I come back to discover I didn't post it. I can't post it now because Muddy has already replied and that would make my reply useless.

My (common law) marriage was a case of being loved but not really loving. She was gaga. I was just very fond.

It was not some horrible tragic thing. There was a lot of laughter and mutual support and very good sex (for both parties) for 5 years. She knew and often talked about how she loved me more. It was what it was.

And then it fell apart for a bunch of reasons. That's the way things go sometimes.

The idea of loving but not being loved back has variables. Like my ex got something out of it for a time - she was so happy - and it could have lasted much longer.

But I can imagine a situation where you love someone that you simply can't have at all. That would be pretty awful. Little secret: I was in that situation once upon a time.
