no doubt its in the conversation...

90's braves, 80's orioles, and a few others

I take the Dodgers when they had Koufax, Drysdale, Sutton, and under-rated Claude Osteen...

or when they had Johnny Podres instead of Sutton

Might be one of the best pitching staffs of all time?

Makes sense to me!

Fiver, I know that man-love you gave Roy last year when we got I said to myself, is this guy that good? Not in playoffs never saw much of the Blue Jays!

Halladay is the best on and off the field! Says and does all the right things!

Thanks Fiver! Still believe at his age 34 he might not need big money and end his career in Toronto! Him and wife have said so many good things bout being there!

He is very classy and is impossible to dislike. He and his wife took a full page ad out in a bunch of newspapers thanking Toronto after they left.

I had a discussion with Matty last night about the guy. I remember I think it was in 2000 or something he was struggling and had an ERA over 10 I think. They sent him all the way down to A ball and he worked his way back up by the end of the year. He was a different pitcher after that.

Unreal the guy Fiver after such a shaky start yesterday, regroups and retires the last 21 batters he faces!

Your story is the way he is still! Guy couldn't bunt the ball to save his life and what does he do! Spends the winter practicing and was probablythe Phils best pitcher at excuting the sacrifice bunt this year!

It's interesting because Toronto has a HUGH inferiority complex and we hate athletes who want out of the city. Guys like David Wells, Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, Damon Stoudamire, Chris Bosh etc... All these guys were hated when they returned but not Halladay. I think people understood he was never going to be a champion in Toronto and was very classy about his trade request.

The best that money can buy.

Jello I love you buddy! Feel for you! Sincerely wanted the Braves to make it! I have it seems disliked the Cards forever!

Yes, the Phils spent money but look at these guys! All QUALITY CHARACTER guys who wanted to come here! Lee could have cash in even more! Ditto for Halladay who signed an extension to stay here! Oswalt could have said no to the trade!

No punks in this group for sure! Money well spent! I remember Tom Glavine not wanting to come to Philly cause the ballpark was a hitter's friendly one! Nice time spent in NYC! Eh!

they've done well, I agree with Fiver.

still a good point to think about when comparing all time pitching staffs. the staffs that the phils' is compared to mostly, were assembled from scouting, drafting, signing young hispanics, and trades...

apples and oranges with today's times
