Good call Dave. No sense in caring about something until it impacts you!
Really?
I made solid counterpoints as to why the 62% wasn't as bad as it actually looked AND said I didn't say that I agreed with it and this is what you fire back. Alrighty.
I care about a lot of things that don't impact me, like families living in poverty. Which last I checked there are far far more of than the folks you are worried about that will be affected by this tax plan?
The vasttttttttt majority of people have no remote shot at a $400,000 annual income. None. Most people are set on a path from birth based on their families, race, neighborhoods, etc. Of course, some people with privilege blow it and some people with the odds stacked against them overcome it. But by and large the odds against someone born into the lower or middle class eventually making over $400,000 a year are essentially zero. These are statistical facts.
Now, you could be a smart money millionaire (don't go into debt, work hard, save up, etc)........ and you wouldn't be affected by this. This is $400,000 INCOME. If you have a healthy household income of $200,000 and pay off your house and save and invest and become a millionaire......... you have nothing to be terrified about.
No sense in caring about something until it impacts me? 1. Isn't that the point of voting/pulling for a candidate, based on how it affects us? Why do you want me to vote for the super wealthy when I'm never going to be super wealthy? 2. I do care. I empathize. It fucking sucks that people who earn a killer wage get taxed hard. But again, it isn't "terrifying". They have ways to reduce that rate. They have tons of non-income based assets that aren't affected. They are still clearing six figures.
"Terrifying" is not knowing where your family's next meal is coming from. Or if you are going to be able to afford rent next month. Or taking out MORE debt to get through one more day/week/month, knowing that you are digging a hole you will likely never get out of that has a great chance to destroy your marriage and your life. Not spending a little more time with your financial advisor trying to figure out how to optimize our tax benefits to reduce the hit we are taking on our gargantuan income.
