Of course, everything will be more expensive to ship, oil, minerals etc etc but as long as there is demand - which there is it will get done.
I think you're missing the distance part and it makes a big difference in shipping.

I know this from a micro level in my own business. Will be a big issue trying to replace that with a country halfway around the world.

I'm not missing the distance part.

Its clear to Canadians (and the world) that under TRUMP the US can no longer be trusted and we need to find other markets out of necessity.

We had a good thing going with the US but recent events have caused Canada to rethink its strategy regarding trading partners. Canada has plenty of natural resources the US says it doesn't need, lets see how happy they are when Canada strikes a deal with China to sell to them instead. China does the shipping thing better than anyone, I'm sure they will have no trouble getting our resources over to the mainland.

Canada has some of the largest oil reserves in the world and massive amounts of the minerals required for EV batteries etc. We will be fine.

Right you had a good thing going with a totally ridiculous tariff position on many US goods. Luckily Trump isn't as retarded so he's ending that nonsense. It's really not our fault that previous administrations were selling us out. 200-300% on some items lol.
Trump negotiated the deals, the USCAM, remember? NAFTA 2.0 USMCA whatever, he renigged on the deal he created.

Free trade started in the 80's under Reagan and Mulroney, it made North America richer, now all of a sudden TRump, thinks its a bad deal, nobody before him could figure it out?

Check your research, the US has /had EVERY advantage regarding free trade. Now under TRump they don't want it, ok, we'll find other trading partners, like I said, China has lots of money and holds lots of US debt, I'm sure we can work out something with them. America may be powerful but they cannot thrive all alone on an island, they will learn the hard way.

I believe it and know that dairy tarrifs are real, but the main reason for this one is because US milk producers use growth hormones and other additives to get milk to market faster. Also we don't need that much milk and Wisconsin alone produces more milk than all of Canada. I'd prefer lower milk prices but not if it means using sub standard genetically modified US dairy products.

US cheese/milk, chicken/turkey is far less expensive than here because of the growth hormones and antibiotics American farmers use to get product to market faster. Canadian poultry is safer/healthier and costlier.

Luckily I live in the heartland at the moment, can go to an Amish farm for eggs if I want. I get not everyone has these advantages. Anyway, I don't think in any world Canada wins a trade war with the US. It's pretty clear based on the history and products.
Enjoy the free range eggs and I agree Canada can't win a trade war with the US, so it will use a different strategy, other trading partners. USA wins! Enjoy your higher prices.
