The thing is, I'm not going to strum so much as pound. I'm not going to sing so much as belt it out at the top of my lungs. I'm going to make some noise here.

I like to be a good neighbour. I never play after 10 pm. For some reason 10 pm has become the cutoff time at the end of the day. I don't think anyone ever told me that was the cutoff; I just decided on it and there has never been a complaint.

I think 9 am is probably an acceptable start-up time for a weekday. Sure.

Of course it is, since you do not have an employer.

Those with regular jobs have already left the building, those that don't have jobs may be sleeping, but so what?

The apt next to yours could possibly be a secret brothel and they would welcome the pounding and belting of a different kind.

The only circumstance that would be an issue would be if you have a neighbor who works the night shift.

They would have to understand that the world just can't be oriented for people who work shifts. They have to look after themselves and can't expect everyone to be quiet until noon or whatever.

I have done some shiftwork in my lifetime and it is a reality I had to accept.

They should understand they are different but most people only understand and care about their own situation. I would say 10:00 AM is an acceptable time to rock out with your mudcat out.

Seriously Muddy, I think our town has or had some kind of noise ordinance of not cutting the lawn before 10AM. Might have went to 9AM over the years. People now are cutting it sometimes at like 7-730. The world is different now and is in constant 24/7 motion. Like NYC, it never sleeps! If anyone complains, tell them possibly they should look for a detached living quarters.

Yeah we get different kinds of external noise pretty early sometimes. I started playing music well before 10 this morning but there was already some kind of droning equipment noise coming from outside.

I would be amazed if anyone complains about me here. It is a small, well sound-proofed building. I never hear a peep in here from any of my neighbours. YOu can sometimes hear stuff walking past doors in the halls but it doesn't pass through the walls.

I was drinking when I first moved in here and I'm sure I made some loud noises in the middle of the night but no one has ever complained about anything.

RS, heard you said there wasn't much village comradery now-a-days. Do you ever think of possibly smoking the peace pipe with the old bat and her son down the road that you have discussed prior? Or is it too far gone? She probably doesn't have time left here and might give you some feel good positive energy that you did all you could to foster some kind of neighborly relationship?
