Why would anyone think Houston is "due"?

They're worse than the Marlins. The Astros are due to be worse than the 1962 Mets. That's what they're due for.

I played HOU +1.5 today but it had nothing to do with the Due Factor.

Your friends are shitty sports bettors, FW

Anyone see this last Friday?

W Venable struck out swinging, W Venable safe at first on wild pitch by A Cobb.
C Headley struck out swinging, W Venable stole second.
W Venable stole third.
C Quentin struck out swinging.
W Venable scored on A Cobb's balk.
Y Alonso struck out swinging.

1 run, no hits, no walks, no errors, 4 K's

And I thought college b-ball was the most stressful in sweating out a bet late in a game! Have Seattle today and since the 7inn back and forth with thinking loss-win-loss-win! I need it to stop there! Wish I could enjoy more bases games! In love with this sport again!

Before posting this, the Indians 1st batter just got on in the bottom of 10th! Unreal!

Just read this bout Ryan Howard at a Phillies blog type site! Sad but so true!

Analysis: Will it be a blessing in disguise to having Howard out? Im not sure I would go that far but I will say this: it is difficult to be a less-statistically relevant first baseman than Howard has been this year

I loudly stated Howard was given big contract partly for what he did when underpaid in previous years but if not yearly 30 HR 120 RBI the rest of contract then the posters here who said it was a bad contract I will go 180 and agree with you! Below numbers are so dreadful that blog comment above is generous really!

In 163 PA he has 6 HR and 22 RBI! A total of 46 KK along with 9 BB! An OBP of .282 to go along with .430 SLG! With RISP Howard is hitting .216 with 1 HR! It's worst than dreadful if possible!

Watched him all year and swings at more garage than in any previous year! Strange thing was in all of spring training he completely avoided swinging at a bad pitch almost 100% of the time!

I got cheated last night!

Let me preface all of this by saying that its always possible that a quick video replay could be missing necessary context and misrepresenting what actually happened. There is some uncertainty when viewing events from afar, especially in a narrow timespan. It is possible that what youre about to see isnt what it looks like.

But, uhh, it sure looks like Alex Sanabia was caught on video spitting all over the baseball after allowing a home run to Domonic Brown tonight. As pointed out by one of our commenters, you can see the video here, and pay attention at around the 13 second mark.

Or, if youd rather, just watch this helpful GIF, care of Jeff Sullivan.

If youre curious, heres the relevant portion of the MLB official rules:

8.02 The pitcher shall not

(a) (1) While in the 18-foot circle surrounding the pitchers plate, touch the ball after touching his mouth or lips, or touch his mouth or lips while he is in contact with the pitchers plate. The pitcher must clearly wipe the fingers of his pitch- ing hand dry before touching the ball or the pitchers plate. EXCEPTION: Provided it is agreed to by both managers, the umpire prior to the start of a game played in cold weather, may permit the pitcher to blow on his hand.

PENALTY: For violation of this part of this rule the umpires shall immedi- ately remove the ball from play and issue a warning to the pitcher. Any sub- sequent violation shall be called a ball. However, if the pitch is made and a batter reaches first base on a hit, an error, a hit batsman or otherwise, and no other runner is put out before advancing at least one base, the play shall pro- ceed without reference to the violation. Repeat offenders shall be subject to a fine by the League President.

(2) expectorate on the ball, either hand or his glove;

(3) rub the ball on his glove, person or clothing;

(4) apply a foreign substance of any kind to the ball;

(5) deface the ball in any manner; or

(6) deliver a ball altered in a manner prescribed by Rule 8.02(a)(2) through (5) or what is called the shine ball, spit ball, mud ball or emery ball. The pitcher is allowed to rub the ball between his bare hands.

PENALTY: For violation of any part of Rules 8.02 (a)(2) through (6):

(a) The pitcher shall be ejected immediately from the game and shall be sus- pended automatically. In National Association Leagues, the automatic suspension shall be for 10 games.

And, because no one uses the word expectorate anymore, heres the dictionary definition: To cough or spit out phlegm from the throat or lungs.

It sure looks like Alex Sanabia expectorated all over that baseball, doesnt it? I dont know how else you would possibly describe that action.

Its worth noting that the Marlins won this game, and that Browns home run was the only run Sanabia allowed all night. Sanabia has been a replacement level pitcher this year, but tonight, he shut down the Phillies. I would think this is probably not the last youve heard of this story.

I'm sending this to 5dimes offices and demanding my money back!
