Three teams in all of MLB have a run differential lower than the Marlins -79:

Rockies
Astros
Twins

Only the Cubs have scored less runs than the Marlins in MLB

Definitely a solid core that should not have been dismantled at the deadline.

How many of those teams spent as much money as the Marlins in free agency in the offseason?

What was the whole point of acquiring Carlos Lee weeks earlier?

You can keep spewing the same bullshit over and over. It still makes zero sense to make that much of an investment and give it 3.5 months to work - no matter how hard you try to defend them. Unless, of course, the owner is a scumbag and was trying to sell the team off.

Craig breslow are you fucking kidding me.

I am
Embarrassed to a red sox fan, players don't care, owners in Liverpool, lucchino cares about selling bricks and the bullshit made up sellout streak.

Fire lucchino, move Beckett to the bullpen, end the sell out streak, send lackey home, get crawford surgery ASAP, so he might be able to play next year.

It's a fuckin circus.

Carlos Lee was obviously acquired because at the time, they were buyers and not sellers. After losing 2 of 3 to the Cubs and getting swept by the Pirates just days before the deadline, they became sellers. It's not fucking complicated.

Hate to say it Arch but the Pirates got sodmized by MIA today. Virtually a 1st round pick for Gaby Sanchez who was arguably the worst starter in MLB in 2012.

What was Pitt thinking there?

So, they gave it two weeks with Carlos Lee before becoming sellers? And all of this makes sense to you?

Jesus.

I don't even follow baseball, but any team trading players because they lost 5/6 might want to fire their entire staff.

It probably had a lot more to do with the -71 run differential through 90 games and then losing 5 of 6 as the icing on the cake.

If you're going to be a seller, you do it before the deadline (see the Phillies this week: Victorino and Pence).

And the reason for acquiring Lee in the first place?

They've had a negative run differential pretty much the entire season. Was two weeks with a newly acquired 1B supposed to change things overnight?
