Actually the more I think about it the more pissed I get:sparesomecutter: If we would've lost by a goal late that would be ok but as it turned out that's not good. I didn't see super fabulous skill in Canada, we need to be able to do better.
Btw Malkin played great. That physical play in the offensive zone. Pretty effective.

Not thought Brad Marchand would turn in to this.

I used to think he was a big deal. Then people were saying he sucks, now he's great again :dunno:

he does always make me think of these weird Popeye characters

he's great now because he's not acting like a douchebag. He acted so bad in the past that his father had to travel to Boston to speak with him about his behaviour. He's not well liked in Halifax. He has a very bad name off the ice, but I do see him maturing. Everyone makes mistakes, but I think it will take a lot to win people over.

seems like not a very insightful article Pucky. It quotes Ovechkin and Bobrovsky saying that Canadians are talented and that we (Russia) had a chance to win, and concludes that they're conceding Canada is unbeatable except through luck.

I saw that Russia played effectively for good stretches, and worked through the untouchable Canadian defense quite often and beautifully. That's why it's upsetting they ended up getting sort of blown out in the end. If you look at the score you'd think it was more of the same pathetic performance we've been watching for 20 years (and that's what that article was implying), but thats not the case imo.
I finally saw positive things such as forechecking and winning physical battles to go with the creative, superior passing/playmaking in the offensive zone. Big weakness is still backing up too much defensively.

Wish we didn't have to wait another how many years for a rematch.

I remember making a post somewhere around mid-NHL-season how maybe Sidney Crosby wouldn't/couldn't make Team Canada for this World Cup. I don't know where the post is but I think my wording was along the lines of not awarding important roster spots based on nostalgia.

One Stanley Cup and one Conn Smythe Trophy and one captaining of Team Canada to a WCH final while leading the tournament in scoring later ----> I am reconsidering my position.
