I got this Sleep Time app that claims to monitor your sleep patterns. It does so by sensing your movements while you sleep - you lay your phone on the corner of your bed and let it do its thing. The app also triggers your morning alarm while you're in a "light sleep" phase (i.e. when you start moving again, near your set alarm time) so you don't wake up groggy.
I'm sure it's nowhere near as complex as it claims but it's pretty nifty.
It uses the accelerometer inside your phone to track your movements during sleep. Apparently it does a good job of it - some third-party scientist was interviewed by Mashable and she said it looked like the app was providing relatively clean data.
Ima keep using it. The smart-alarm feature itself makes it worth it.
So, how does it track your movement, do you hold on to it, lay it next you? How does it not track the movement of the person sleeping next to you? Or is this something you must use when sleeping alone?
You lay it next to you. Yeah, there's necessarily some "noise" introduced by the person sleeping next to you. But by the same token, Stevie's sleeping pattern probably influences yours anyway, so might as well track both of y'alls movements.
This is true. If I take a good amount of unisome I can usually sleep through his insomnia, if I don't then I am up too.
I wanna try this, it seems really cool.
Would I have to keep the tv off or can it differentiate between human movement/noise and something like the tv?
Speaking of Mashable, during the 4 Loko iPhone night I got interviewed by a reporter and told her I worked at Mashable.
Here's her email from other day:
Dear Blitty,
my name is Steffi - I'm the girl who spoke to you in line in front of the Apple store. I'd love to stay in touch - firstly, because I find Mashable an extraordinary site and also because it would be great to get your opinion on things if I'm writing a tech-related story.
Hope you had a good weekend!

Kind of hot Columbia student. Should I lead her on to a 'Intern opportunity' and mash-able her vagina?
