I have become curious lately if I can get rid of all the uselss shit on my wall. So I started "hiding" advertisements and saying don't show me shit from so-and-so. I figured it was a futile exercise but it has actually worked and I am not seeing any advertisments.

Problem is, then you start getting a shitload of "recommendations." It starts showing you shit that your contacts have "liked".

Holy shit some people like a lot of stuff. Some people must spend vast amounts of time just going from page to page liking everything. It's unbelievable. It's like they have quotas. I have contacts whose recommendations have less weight than helium.

But I start closing off all those recommendations - again, figuring it is a futile exercise - because even after you get through the shitload of useless recommendations of my undiscriminating contacts, it will just start showing you any-fucking-random-thing with the overall number of likes.

But actually it is not futile. It gets to a point where it stops giving you recommended pages.

But then there are recommended group. But you can close those off too.

But then it starts asking if you have seen/read various movies/TV shows/books. Nothing you can do with those. You can't click them off that I can see. You can only answer yes or no - which I don't want to do because it would only be encouraging it to my way of thinking.

What do you care if I have seen Mork and Mindy? No I haven't but fuck off.

facebook = the ultimate clingy, needy, whorish pest that you just want to shoot in the head.

FB = possibly the 2nd greatest marketing idea, product, scheme in the history of marketing schemes.
commercials being #1

apparently I could pay a monthly fee to FB for them promote my biz.
the methods of promoting I have no clue??? post recommendations or "you may like" ads randomly?

about the same scheme as all those " pay per lead" services on the interwebs that scam clueless service/trade oriented small businesses that rely on calls from potential customers coming in.
their dirty not so secret scheme is they sell the same leads to multiple businesses along with selling fake or old leads over and over.

I mean as much crap as there is on there I can't think of another way I could have exchanged dialogue with Kent Steffes, the 2nd greatest beach volleyball player of all time, which is exactly what just happened.

Me:
I just realized the 2nd best volleyball player of all time has the same birthday as my fiancee. Happy Birthday Kent, legend.

Kent Steffes
Thanks what a coincidence

Me:
No problem Kent, it's actually a day off I realized after but close enough.

:ata::ata::ata::ata::guitar::megaman::boxcleanersdaddy:

ROGUAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

There it is Rogie.

Rogie that means this all time beach volleyball hero, #2 ever spoke to me.

Rogie that is so dope. I remember this hit - no one's digging that up Rogie look at that bounce.

Though if you're not putting up a blocker on 1992 Steffes you deserve it, it was over as soon as Karch said "nobody".

When we see that someone has posted notice of an important death to them, I just don't think that clicking :like: is the right thing to do.

I'm sure everyone understands it doesn't mean they like that the loved one died. They are liking the tribute or whatever.

But no. It's half-assed. It's lacking in thought. No.

Just tacky.

Just type out the word, "condolences." Perhaps, "So sorry to hear that."

If one mouseclick is the max that the situation inspires in you, then the person probably isn't really important to you and you should just stand in tasteful, respectful silence.

I agree.

So to expand on the topic in my opinion if someone posts about a death and it is just sad a like is inappropriate. If they throw in a nice little anectote or similar than a like can be argued for. There needs to be specific guidelines.
