What happens anyway?

Here's a question for anyone in the know: these people with hundreds and thousands of "friends" - do they see every single status update that every one of them makes? And then every time every one of those friends comments on or :like: something - does that show up in your feed?

That's what it appears I get with the 8 or so people I have on the loose.

Can't imagine it with 1000 people.

This chick keeps giving me stuff on facebook, I haven't talked to her she seems cool though; cute.

Here's something I learned in my travels though: this LOLWOT thing that I commented on recently ---> apparently I liked it.

That's why it suddenly became a staple in my feed.

I mean, I didn't, but it somehow ended up on my list of likes - which actually had a few things I hadn't heard of. The system had me giving it a :like:

Always with the whorish nonsense, facebook.

Sometimes I have thoughts like, no one wishes more than me that everyone was interesting.

But really, big picture, it's probably a good thing they aren't.

I'd be stuck all day just trying to get through my facebook wall.

There wouldn't be time.

Uninteresting people that can be skipped over ---> a necessary part of the life cycle, they are.

:yoda:

I currently have FB anxiety. I am so behind in reading posts that I feel like it is overwhelming and that thee is no possible way to catch up so I just stay away for the most part. Yesterday I wanted to like a friend's post, but didn't want others to see that I was on FB and had not taken time to read a month's worth of back posts and "like" their things.

I had always wanted to keep at 100 friends or less. The reunion added a good number of people and I think I'm closer to the 200 mark...not sure. In any case, I'm going to have a FB purge soon and at least order them in some manageable way so that I can keep up with those who are actual real life friends. I don't know why on earth anyone would want to collect FB friends like trading cards. Low self esteem maybe. It's weird to me. I mean, you don't want to have like 10 friends...maybe that looks pathetic...like you couldn't just keep up with 10 people in "real" life? , but 100 seems like a good reasonable solid number. Some people have over 1000....WTH????? It givesme anxiety just thinking about it.

IAG, let me give you the condensed version of mine: I don't know how my offspring well ever survive with me as a parent, Willie Bee and I work in the same town so I will be stalking him soon, and I suck in general.

Thanks Teela! Everyone needs to just do that. A weekly summation of their lives without all the cute and inspirational stuff...there is probably a need for a site like that. A no frills FB...

I don't know what happened to my old buddy. He used to be cool.

I'm sure he still is in many ways - and I'm sure we will chat by PM and maybe even meet up if he ever comes back to town - but his facebook wanders into aggressively cheesy territory TOO MUCH. There is a daily onslaught and then this just came up for the second time in maybe a month

Really dude? First I got a toothache and then I puked.

Another one bites the dust.

I just lost because the 8 ball was blocked off by two of his balls and I blasted them to knock it in, I didn't know you lose because of that. Whatever.

He gives me the "sorry, gotta run" comment after he wins. I do that too, it's funny every time. He wins 58% of his matches, he's pretty good.

Well played, Massimo.

I play 8ball pool on fb and it's awesome. I'm in the finals of a tournament against this guy Massimo RIGHT NOW.

Super noice.

I play Diamond Dash.

All indications are I am quite good at it. I sometimes think, why don't you just deactivate from facebook? What are you actually getting from it really? But then I remember this stupid game I'm pretty good at. So I stay.

Stupid game.
