Apparently facebook will be adding some kind of empathy button.

It is to address the problem of people posting sad news, and others, wanting to express support - but not wanting to actually use words - so they really only have one option and it leads to stuff like:

Damn guys, my favorite uncle died and I have been diagnosed with AIDS.

:like:

So they are going to try something they feel is more appropriate.

They don't want to just have a dislike button because it is felt it would be used too much for general flaming - which is not the tone they want. Mark Zuckerburg has said it was an incredibly complicated issue to address.

I personally feel like if you want a button that expresses sympathy, you could put in a button that says, "sympathy" - but obviously that would be crazy.

So we'll see what they come up with.

I guess this LOLWOT thing I am seeing all the time now - which doesn't appear to be there because of a friend bumping it or whatever - I guess that's another decision that facebook went ahead and made for my timeline.

They decided to just stick that in my stuff.

I see it would be easy to unfollow but it's actually not too bad. But I don't like them doing shit like that.

Hmmm.

LOLWOT is a bit schizo though.

There is offbeat funny stuff. Quirky stories. Sometimes darkly funny - that's good.

That fits with the name LOLWOT.

But then they do these bits that are completely serious, even tragic. I kinda squint at them trying to figure out what I am missing, what I am supposed to be LOL-ing at.

But there is nothing. I don't mind serious news but it is weird to post it under this

A little work needed on the identity, I guess is what I am suggesting.

So I finally liked something on facebook. It was the musical group Walk Off The Earth who are well known for their cover of Somebody That I Used to Know. They also did a cover of Can't Feel my Face which I liked a lot. Also glanced at a few of their other covers. Interesting, creative and enjoyable.

So I gave them a :like:

Ever since then I keep getting notifications every time they post a pic on their page. They are almost all completely useless. Just endlessly plugging their crap. They have a word for their fans. WOTE-lings. Like Earthlings? Get it?

On the cuteness scale that is an 11 out of 10 amirite?

I am unliking them. I hope I will somehow become aware if they come up with more good music, but I don't want all that crap.

So now I don't like anything again.

Just remembered I did :like: something before. It was a movie review show. I forget what it's called. Because I unliked it after awhile.

The Watchlist. That's what it was. They didn't chase me away with useless crap on facebook; the actual television show went for shit.

So unlike.

I'm not meant to like things.

How do I get rid of shit on my feed that I can't comment on. Why is that shit even there:sparesomecutter:
If I'm not supposed to comment on a friend of a friend's post then don't show me the shit.

I'm looking at one of those right now. I see you can hide everything from whatever the source is but that is the most meager of help. That stuff could potentially come from a billion different sources.

Maybe there is something in security settings or personal settings or I-don't-know-what.

:dunno:
