Obviously the goal is to get it in good. But if all you care about is always getting it in good, that means folding anything but the nuts. That's ridiculous.I do believe that. It's all about numbers man, if you are a cash pro. Sure I went hyper aggro there.
Dude the whole thing is a trap. I am that good with numbers (usually).
The job to me is -
Get it in good. To me that is the very definition of being good as cash gaming.
If you flop middle set on a 10 9 2 board, you get it in. Your opponent might have QJxx draw, 87xx draw, 22xx lower set, 109 two pair, JJ-AA overpair, etc. You get it in because you are ahead of their get-it-in range. In the long term this will be a profitable because it's ahead of that range. And this isn't even factoring in fold equity (which makes semi-bluffing so valuable). If they happen to have 1010 on this exact hand, you didn't make a mistake to get it in, you just happened to run into the top of their range this time.
What about if you are getting 38% equity on a draw but are getting 3-to-1 on a call? You will lose this pot nearly 2/3 of the time but you are getting 3x your money. This is a crystal-clear profitable call long term.
"Always have the best hand when you go all-in" is nit shit that leaves wayyyy too much $$ on the table.
