After all the BFS upgrades it will be roughly the same price as Air Canada.

If you don't get the upgrades it will be a miserable experience unless you go into this with "it was a $___ ticket for a reason" attitude.

I remember one time on a flight I had a small moment of insanity. This old guy in front of me put his seat back and it made me feel cramped. I don't know what got into me but I shoved his seat forward and when he looked at me I glared at him. he turned around and didn't put his seat back again.

Selected reviews out of Detroit :hahaha:

"I'm no clean freak, but I have a stubborn aversion to airplane seats covered in feces, vomit, and snot. In addition to my own seat, every one I passed was discolored or torn, and the overall smell in the craft was like corpses and garbage. Besides the seats themselves, the leg room was absolutely criminal. I'm only 5'7", but I basically had to sit in half lotus position in order to accommodate my longest limbs."

"All snacks are $2 (think small bag of pretzels) and all drinks (even water) are $3. "

"Five Thumbs down! Negaive10 stars! I can't imagine them being in business for even 2 years. It was horrible to the 13th kind! Spend a little more for god PR, good information and honesty. They have no dignity."

"Don't forget the fees for sitting in a seat, having a carry on, or checking a bag, or even trying to drink a softdrink."

"Egads. What just happened to me??? I was having a nice Saturday and then....and THEN I arrived at the Juan Santamaria Airport in San Jose, Costa Rica for the WORST travel experience of my long life. And I travel A LOT. This airline is really just a bus in the sky at best. $3 for water? What?????? And $45 for my briefcase? What????? And where in the heck is customer service? Remember that???? Dirty cabin, gross bathroom, non-existent flight attendant service. I cannot say one positive thing about my international travel on Spirit. Not one. I tried to give zero stars but the interface here makes you give at least one. ( Yelp, methinks you should change that.)"

"I have flown on 100's of different planes thru dozens of airlines.
I have even been in a near plane crash while flying in a seaplane.
But my worst experiences have been w/ Spirit. (ATA is a close 2nd)."

Air Canada was more than double..... I can bring my own water on to the plane from the snack shops in the airport.....

Downgrading Spirit to 5 Matty Rains! They were always inexpensive!

Spirit Airlines' new $100 fee for a carry-on bag may be the most recent irritant for fliers, but other airlines also have quietly raised their fees.

Spirit says that beginning Nov. 6 it will charge $100 for fliers who pay for a carry-on bag at the boarding gate. That's a big jump from the $45 the airline is charging now at airport gates and means it could cost $200 round-trip to carry a bag on board. Most airlines don't charge to carry on a bag, but last month Allegiant Air began charging up to $35, depending on the route.

Bag fees on other airlines also have been rising since USA TODAY surveyed all fees in September:

Delta Air Lines' highest fee then for a second checked bag was $75 for some international flights. Now the airline charges $80 for fliers paying online and $100 at the airport for flights between the USA and Europe or North Africa.

American Airlines' highest fee in September for a second checked bag was $60 on some international flights. Now the price is $70 for flights between the USA and South America (excluding Brazil).

JetBlue increased its fee for a second checked bag from $35 to $40 in February. Unlike most competitors, though, the airline doesn't charge to check a first bag.

For passengers on Spirit, the $100 one-way fee for carry-on bags will drop to $50 as of Nov. 6 if it's paid at Spirit's ticket counters or check-in kiosks. The fee drops more, to $35 each way, if reserved online before check-in, or to $40 if reserved through the airline's call center.

Alternately, a Spirit customer will be able to check a single bag for $30 each way when booking online or $35 through the airline's call center. Checking a bag at the airport is $45 each way.

Every time I check spirit it is the same price as american from here to Miami (at least $500). There are no bag fees for international flights on american either. So I'm really not sure what purpose spirit serves now. I know you can got to central america from miami though for peanuts. Everybody go visit rj.

"at the boarding gate".

in other words, those customers who tried to sneak carry-on's aboard the plane without paying for them will be charged 3x the normal rate if caught.

potato never brings a carry-on (just a backpack) so this is a non-issue. until they increase the price of the BFS from LAS-OAK we will continue to fly them over southwest who is the only other carrier which flies direct on that leg.

however on long hauls (LAS-DTW, LAS-MCO, LAS-ORD) we will fly the major carriers simply because we need the WiFi.

tomato the bastards finally figured it out.

they got rid of their 3 pm departure out of OAK and are flying A320's (4 BFS, 174 economy) instead of A319's (12 BFS, 135 economy).

they have roughly 24 extra seats (4 rows) on their A319's than normal airlines, hence why they have no leg room and don't want you to fly with any bags.

tomato we might have to start flying southwest like everybody else.

What are we looking for here Wall Street guys?
