A pizza bun is a pretty simple bakery item. It's just a round, more-or-less flat piece of cooked dough with some tangy tomato sauce and a mess of cheese melted on top and crispy all over the edges. They cost $1.29 each. They also sell cheese buns which are basically the same thing minus the tomato sauce. You might think the cheese bun would cost less but no - also $1.29.

Pizza buns go very well with a number of things. I often have them on the side with chicken noodle soup or gumbo. If you nuke them gently they become very soft and tender.

Kind of messy though, pizza buns. They get greasy on the bottom. I guess from the cheese?? You'd best have an ample supply of paper towels.

Here is a pic of some pizza buns which are slightly different than the ones I get but not off by a million miles:

It was fine with the prime rib. Probably not an ideal combo but okay. Actually the prime rib itself did not come out great. I mean, it was good and I have some nice leftovers which kind of make my mouth water to think about. Definitely not bad. But it is probably better to do it in the oven than on the barbecue. I am usually a barbecue guy but that is the one thing where I would say ---> oven.

So all-in-all it was a bit of a trip to the wild side. BBQ prime rib and a pizza bun.

Pizza buns.

Once upon a time, Second Cup was my go-to place for coffee. It was awhile back. I used to smoke joints and go shoot pool at Shoppers World and we would go out of our way to get a Second Cup coffee. We probably drove past a Tim Hortons and a Country Style to get our Second Cup.

Louis and Frank (owners of 7 Star Billiards) would sometimes give us a hard time and it was like, "Ayyyy, why you bring coffee? We have coffee here!"

But no. Second Cup.

That was a long time ago though. I was probably in my 20's. That must be about 80 years ago.

Now I am all about the Tim Hortons. That's just the way it has gone. I'm sure I could drink Second Cup. I am sure it would be perfectly acceptable. Sometimes I have a non-Tim-Hortons and it is never terrible.

But shit happens.

Fancy? Yeah I guess it probably is fancier. They have choices. You put in your own cream/milk/sugar at SC. They may even have a cinnamon shaker there. Not positive about that but it wouldn't surprise me.

There would be slightly higher falutin' snacks at SC.

There would be better seating at a SC. They would have some padded seats around, possibly a sofa or two.

Plus there is the whole fancy world of Cappucchinos and Frappe Lattes or whatever. That's a world I don't set foot in. I feel safe in saying Second Cup is better for that fancy stuff.

On a fancy scale of 1 -10, if Tim Hortons is a 3, Second Cup is, I dunno, a 6 ??? :dunno:
