Would you expand in the United States? Fraiman asks. Zara to me is a European store for European style; its very fashion forward. And what is the problem in America? They dont fit in the clothes. So why do it? Having to make larger sizes makes production so much more complex.

I didn't read the whole article but the quote seems very shallow and dopey to me.
Okay so we're pointing out the relative chunkiness and fake-boobiness of the American population. Point taken. You have taken your little shot.
But there is another American characteristic which makes expansion there seem like an excellent idea: rampant consumerism. Americans as a group have shown a pretty notable willingness to throw around large money on ridiculous things (like fashion). Why not expand there with the line and sizes you have. If someone wants a different size you say, "We don't have it."
It's not like every American is an alien freak. Many of them have got to fit the clothes.
