Bulk discounts.

See when you buy one the clerk goes and makes a single and returns. When you buy 2 they make the same trip and return only they've doubled their transport thus they have increased sales with the exact same amount of effort. When you order 3 they triple with the same amount of effort.

Ol' Timmy is passing the savings on to you Muddy for keeping his profits up and keeping the time spent down. The more you buy the more you save MudCakes.

Except for the fact that it costs more per cup when you buy 3, not less, this is an excellent theory.

IT'S OBVIOUS GOD WANTS US TO HEAR MORE THAN WE SPEAK OTHERWISE WE WOULD HAVE 2 MOUTHS & 1 EAR. OUR TONGUES AND MOUTHS IS LIKE A WILD ANIMAL & WE HAVE TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL.

That is some extreme wisdom delivered in all caps.

Lemme try:

ONE SHOULD NOT ASK IF ONE IS A FLOATING PIECE OF SHIT BUT RATHER ONE SHOULD ASK TO WHAT DEGREE THEY ARE A PIECE OF SHIT. WHICH IS AFLOAT.

That's something people used to say a lot at 12 step meetings. They would say - particularly to newbies - that they have 2 ears and only one mouth because they are supposed to listen more than speak.

Often people would say stuff like, you need to take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth.

They would say that. Cotton.

I found it very common for people who said stuff like that to be idiots.

Perhaps someone can explain to me why

1) I buy a single extra large coffee at Tim Horton's and it is exactly 2 dollorz

2) I buy 2 extra large coffees at Tim Horton's and it is $3.99

3) I buy 3 extra large coffees at Tim Horton's and it is $6.45

Majority of their customers order just 1 or 2 and they eat up the tax for speed and convenience. More than that I guess they're not willing to eat it. Maybe.

I guess a penny pincher needing 3 coffees could attempt to employ strategies such as placing their order in 2 parts. Like order 2 and then, while still standing their, cleverly order another. Personally I would feel like a choad doing that but I bet guys do it and feel right smug about it too.

Muddy if you buy 12 coffees 2 at a time it's $23.94. If you buy the same 12 coffees 3 at a time it's $25.80. Muddy over time saving $1.86 per dozen purchases you could probably do something pretty deluxe I betcha.

At least you've found something consistent even if not exactly reasonable. When I was doing my breakfast biscuit every moring it would be $3.96 one morning, $3.72 one morning, $3.85 one morning, $3.94 one morning. It would be the same shop, the same biscuit every morning but rarely the same price 2 days running.

I didn't bitch though cause you never know when they might a special extra ingredient that you didn't order or want.

If I wanted 12 coffees I would buy them 12 at a time and I wouldn't think about it.

But I know there are people who would really be eyeballing that extra 46 cents for the three coffees versus getting them 2 plus 1.

Like I have gotten comments at work for buying a newspaper every morning. Guys have made joking-around comments about that on more than one occasion - about how I am the rich guy of the shop floor because of that daily purchase. Except it's one of those things where they are joking but they are not totally joking. Like they are forcing a laugh but they really do see the expenditure as extravagant. They would like to have a newspaper themselves but it is just too much to spring for.

Those guys would be plotting strategies around coffee prices, guaranteed.
