Random thoughts

im gettiong conflicting information here:

The term, “knock your socks off” comes from the adult entertainment industry of the 1940s and 1950s.

Most adult films from that period were commonly known as “Smokers” and were generally silent home-type movies usually shown at bachelor’s parties, etc. At that time (and even now?) it was easier to cast women’s roles in adult films than it was to find willing men. Men were difficult to cast because they were generally camera shy. When appearing on camera, the men would routinely wear sunglasses to disguise their looks; and for some odd reason they wanted to also wear their (typically) dark colored socks.

(If you've ever seen any of these movies, you may have wondered about this behavior - this is the reason.)

Anyway, since it was very difficult to talk any of the men working in “Smokers” out of wearing their ridiculous “disguises”, especially their socks:lol:, it was eventually said that if one of these adult movies was especially provocative, or “hot”, it was said (more-or-less as a joke) to have the power to “knock your socks off”.

This arcane phrase that was once an “insider’s” term from the porn industry, has been adopted by mainstream America to mean just about anything that is impressive in nature.

Chicken wings
Butter
Hot Sauce
Lemon
Baking Sheet
Oven

Better than any of that pre cooked shit common one time

Muddy I would make you wings that would knock your socks off. I prefer my wings baked, though. Not fried.

I am not against this idea. I am an old dog but I continue to learn new tricks when it comes to cooking.

It doesn't sound like it has much effect on the original point about the skyrocketing price of chicken wings though. You commented that $10 gets you more chicken wings than you can eat and that is about the same as what I would say, doing it the other way.

If things keep up I will need to apply for a chicken wing subsidy.

Muddy, you have to photograph your freezer.

I do? Well if I have to, I have to.

Here it is. I told you it was not large.

I resisted the urge to rearrange things more neatly. I am just letting it all hang out for gamelive.

Wow!!! :lmao: What the hell is all that?

Well sir, most of what you see there is frozen barbecued meat. There are packets of hot Italian sausages, some pork tenderloins, burgers, chicken breasts. There is actually a frozen cooked sirloin steak in there (center, bottom). I normally would not do that with a steak but I must have had a reason.

I tend to cook things in large batches and then freeze individual portions. So most mornings I will pull something out and thaw for later nuking, to be had for dinner along with some combo of potato/tomato/onion/lettuce/pickle/whatever. I like dinner preparation to be a quick process most days.

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. There is some raisin bread and some whole wheat bread. You can see the hot chicken wings I was talking about. That green box at the back is chicken balls.

Hidden behind the wall of stuff at the front are items such as hamburg buns, spaghetti, chicken penne - even some freezie pops although they are out of favor at the current time.
