that would only make sense though. Somebody that doesn't like guns wouldn't want to handle one and wouldn't want others to run around with them.

Yeah. But it's also a bit like saying you don't like peas without ever tasting them. If you're raised around firearms, it's second nature to you. For others, there's a strange fear that people overcome after handling them. For whatever reason, it's only with firearms. You don't see people with a fear of knives or anything else. You could just as easily trip and fall on the blade of a knife as you could accidentally shoot yourself.

Nobody really wants people running around with them, but it's a reality that we have to face.

Purchasing a gun is ridiculously easy. They do run a background check though, which makes it slightly better.

Living in a military-heavy area, there are pawn shops EVERYWHERE. It surprises me that there are so many guns in there. What's the reasoning behind pawning your gun?

My ex-husband pawned our tv while I was out of town to buy cigarettes. Correction, he brought it in to get a loan and never went back to get it. We were divorced shortly after that.

Because an accident with a gun could kill someone. A knife accident, probably not. Inthehole never did answer my question about the need for people to own body armor- piercing ammo. Doesn't sound like self-defense.

If you are worrying about security a single gun will not keep you safe. You need 10 pistols, 20 rifles, 30 assault weapons, 50,000 rounds of ammo, 12 machine guns, 5 bazookas, 10 surface to air missiles, and two dozen land mines! That's the only way I will ever feel safe in my house!
