Random thoughts

yes. I have family (1) and friends (3) who died in 9/11. I understand and want a memorial there to commemorate those we lost, but that huge useless fountain is a waste of prime property where instead they could have built something useful as a memorial. I really foresee drunk NYU undergrads jumping in there.

What do they currently jump off of?

I had a revelation today after a 4 hr session cutting hardiboard and being engulfed in a smog of nasty dust... however I didnt have the revelation until my lungs started to hurt trying to breath.
I have been breathing silica dust for approx 13 yrs.
I will die of some kind of lung cancer related to silica dust not cigarettes.

However, when cut, drilled, or abraded during installation, the resulting smaller, silica-containing dust can pose a potential health hazard as inhalation of excessive quantities over an extended duration can cause silicosis, lung-cancer, or other lung-related diseases, potentially leading to death.

My thought is you should start wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) immediately. Even though it is probably more uncomfortable than what you are used to - and possibly uncool - just get in the habit and do it every time. Lungs are important. You'll get used to it.

2 out of the past 3 days a cab driver has stopped almost directly in front of my house, opened the passenger door near the curb and used it as a shield so he could take a piss.

I do not live in the ghetto and I'm not sure who around here would even be calling a cab. Plus there are 4 petrol stations, fast food outlets and a major mall within a 1-2 minute drive from here.

I wonder if he's been doing this every day and I've only just happened to notice now.
