I don't think I'll ever do the online dating thing. Seems like a huge waste of time for the most part. How many dates are non-starters from the minute you meet the girl? I'd have to Skype the girls first.

I dabbled in it some 10-12 years back and wasted some time. But still, I can't think of a better approach for myself. I don't hang around at bars and am not outgoing to the point where I am going to strike up relationships with women I see at the grocery store or whatever. If any of my friends or coworkers wanted to set me up, I would consider it but that doesn't come up ever.

I have had a couple of long-term relationships that began through addiction recovery meetings but my meeting closed down and I'm not going to start going to AA.

The online approach isn't bad. The cards are on the table. If something isn't right with someone, you move on. My sister met her husband online. It can work.

Yeah. I understand where you're coming from. I was actually going to try to suggest an alternative for you, but I couldn't think of any setting outside of my wheelhouse which is casinos, bars, and clubs. There aren't many social settings outside of that in our society. Even going to see bands or whatever is pretty alcohol-centric. I guess that speaks a bit about how uninteresting our society really is and sort of ties into what I've said about nobody really having any hobbies any more.

Gym membership is about all that I can come up with.
