Should one hit the brakes or not when hitting a deer? I wonder...if I hit the brakes of my car, my car moves down more, right? Then, the deer might damage my windshield more likely. I don't have any experiences with hitting animals (do I sound like I hit people?) when driving, so I am just wondering.

My brother and I hit a deer once while driving in Wisconsin. The thing was groaning horrendously as it had two broken legs. We had to pull out a hunting knife and slit its throat to put it out of its misery. True story.

Moral of the story: Accelerate if you don't want to slit its throat.
