I have a jar of American change. Not talking about a nice coin collection - just change. For whatever reason, many years ago when I spotted American coins in my change, I separated them into a jar.

Now I have this jar with a bunch of American change in it.

WTF am I going to do with that shit?

I mean, giving them American coins would be better than giving them none.

I mean yeah, I guess there are homeless people. You hear people talking about homelessness once in awhile. I have a buddy who used to be homeless before he sobered up.

But what are they going to do with the coins? They don't work in pay phones or newspaper boxes or those coin cashing machines at the grocery store.

I guess they can try to sneak them past shopkeepers a few at a time?? Do I want to contribute to that? I don't know.



I'm not exactly sure who the homeless people are to be honest. We don't have people begging in the street in my neck of the woods. There is a food bank not far from me, so I guess some of the people that go in there might appreciate the coins. Maybe I'll leave the jar of American coins sitting outside the food bank and let the chips fall where they may.

I don't think you can exchange coins at banks. Or if you can I've never found one that will accept them no matter how much you have.

I literally have hundreds of dollars in coins from different countries and I'm stuck with them until I go back - if I ever do.

I think that's why so many airports have those change donation things when you're walking to your flight. The money goes to charity apparently which would be better than just sitting in my drawer.
