Define "firing up in to the air", because there's no way that the terminal velocity of a falling bullet is going to do much damage.

After some further research, apparently a bullet can remain spin-stabilized on the way down and have a high enough velocity to kill.

Color me surprised.

Talking about celebratory gunfire deaths. I'm sure they are fired at a variety of angles. There are reports of loads of deaths over many incidents forever.

In fact it seems like something Americans and Muslims can share as America and Muslim locales are the main hotspots. So there's cause for hope or something.
