Without getting into a discussion of the subtleties of parts of speech - the bigger point is degrees. Most is an absolute. It's the maximum and there can't be more. Much just means a lot but there could be more.

There are slangy implications too though. But anyway they are different degrees of absolute-ness.

Just had a little Butterfingers bar that was in my fridge. I opened to find that it was basically pulverized. Crushed.

No idea how it got that way. It was part of a 6-pack and none of the others were like that. You couldn't see any sign of anything from the outside but I guess it just got squarshed somewhere along its journey.

So I opened the wrapper to find a little pile of Butterfingers rubble.

Still good.
