Heading off to my sister's place for Easter dinner shortly. Will be picking up my brother on the way.

And when I say, "on the way," I of course mean, "an hour in the exact opposite way."

I reckon. I gripe and mutter behind his back but I just keep doing it.

I was contemplating this situation while having car troubles and using public transit a couple months back. I was thinking, what if I didn't get the car back on the road? What about family gatherings?

Someone would probably offer to pick me up. I would not allow it. It would be completely inconvenient for my sister and brother-in-law who would be preparing the meal and looking after a 4 year-old. In the case of my aging parents, I would be worried it was a bit unsafe. Minimal time on the road seems like the best thing for them.

I would figure out some way using a variety of transit to get myself as close as possible and then walk the last of the way.

Is my feeling on that.
