Isn't in-school suspension an oxymoron?
Not really, I had in-school suspension a couple of times. ok, more like, a lot of times. What happens -at least in my school, is you are in a totally different room, close to the principals office, there is a moderator, you sit in little cubicals, kind of like an office set up, you HAVE to do any and all school work you have...it does give you a good chance to catch up and get ahead in your school work, you are not allowed to talk, your not allowed to sleep, you are not allowed to just sit there and do nothing, if you really have nothing to do, they give you a book to read or put you to work with teachers like helping to take down or put up stuff on the walls or other like things. I was lucky in that we had a really cool moderator and he would talk with me or let me draw or do something, I couldn't, and still can't sit still for too long or keep quiet for shit.
You sit there, all day, when lunch comes you go thru the lunch line, and are not allowed to talk to other students, if you do, you get an extra day or a detention on Saturday morning, (detention sucked, it was FOUR hours long), and then you go back and eat lunch in your little cube. It may or may not be the same in other schools, but in my school they were pretty strict. I would have rather have had an out of school suspension, that would have been more fun, in school suspension sucks ten times worse.
