I wonder if that is correct english, saying, "I was in hospital."
I would always say, "I was in the/a hospital."
It just seems right to me that there would be some kind of article there - however I have heard it expressed without the article so many times - often by very credible people - that I wonder if I have got it wrong.
I consider myself well above average in my knowledge of english. I realize I do many grammatically/syntactically incorrect flourishes on the forum - but it is almost always knowingly and for some effect.
But that one - in hospital ----> maybe I got it wrong.
