Barry Bonds stole 340 bases through his age 30 season

Derek Jeter had 358 stolen bases in his career.

In his 16 recorded bunt attempts, Bonds laid down two for sacrifices and picked up eight hits on the others for a batting average of .571

Through age 26, Bonds has a 10.8 defensive WAR, more than any other outfielder in major league history other than Andruw Jones through that age.

As a due hard tween and young teen pirate fan I remember Barry quit well as a different kind of player than he ended up

He was McCutchen on the Pirates, then turned into David Ortiz. A special player who let his ego get ahead of him.

I don't like Bonds, he was a HUGE A-hole years before the steroids and HGH

but I can't fault him for his choice in the time period/era

guy was a top player and everyone else started cheating. Other hitters that he was competing for awards /honors and ultimately contracts with

and Pitchers... Pitchers were taking roids, HGH, stimulants and getting an advantage.

Only a few Mr. Rogers types DIDN'T start using something illegal in the 90's, it wasn't just an ego thing

Bonds gets extra hate because since he was so good to begin with, when he starting using he broke "hallowed" records

but why should he get MORE hate than another former Pirate like Jay Bell, who went from decent middle infielder with 5-10 hr pop to a dude hitting 38 Hr's at the age of 33?

I think he got extra hate because he was the face of their franchise, and hated the media.
