yeah, that sounds strange 162 games and 1 game playoff. They're only 2.5 out of 1st though

What I find strange is that in MLB in September, teams are allowed to expand their rosters from 25 to 40.

Most important part of the season ----> suddenly teams can load up on scrubs and spare parts and table scraps.

Hell, put Vern Troyer on the roster and see if he can draw a walk then, when he gets on, replace him with Usain Bolt as pinch-runner. Doesn't matter if he can hit or field because we can just replace him when he's done. We got more guys than we can fit in the dugout.

I could possibly see allowing that in April. Actually no.

Never sounds about right.

Tron thinks September call ups are incredibly not strange. Some players on the 25-man teams of contenders have nagging injuries after a long 6 months of baseball (with Spring Training included).

Shitty teams can bring prospects up to get a taste of the big leagues.

Tron thinks a 1 game Wild Card coin flip is very strange.

Why not at least a best of 3?

Bob McCown, my favorite local radio personality and the big dog of Toronto radio, refuses to interview active athletes on his show.

I have always thought this was wise. Unfortunately most guys do not have such a policy.

I swear I heard this in an interview between a radio dude and an NFL player today.

Radio dude: So your next game is Monday night. Is there anything different in your preparation compared to a normal Sunday start?

Player: Well, we get an extra day.

Athalete - Obviously, it's a really special feeling.

Actually athletes are expected to be PR people for their teams, it is in their contracts. If you are a good player, you can get away with acting like a jerk. Philosophers, they most certainly are not.
