How's yalls hair loss?

I had general thinning and a growing spot on top in the back (regular crown loss).

Been using 5% minoxidil since November. It's really made a difference. Pain in the ass to equity this shit on my head 2x daily and then you have greasy hair but hair is the penis of the head.
Interesting you bring it up. Once a week, someone my age or older tells me what a great head of hair I have and I say thank you but I know my hair isn’t nearly as thick as it used to be. At 52 years old, the check engine light goes on more than it used to at 42.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been thinking seriously about starting oral finesteride and oral minoxidil. For those that don’t know, finesteride helps you keep the hair you have. It does not grow hair like minoxidil.

A friend on finesteride said he’s very happy with the results but he says now he needs to use Cialis before sex (ED is a side effect for some men who use finesteride). So that’s what has kept me from going from the thinking stage to the starting stage.

Boney, just curious why you’re not using oral minoxidil and also, who suggested that dose?

I was told that if I start oral minoxidil, to start at 1.25 mg a month and then double that after the first 30 days if I had no side effects.

Great idea for a discussion, Bone Bone.

Topical minoxidil (Rogaine is the brand name but I'm using Amazon brand) no oral. I wouldn't use fin due to the sexy stuff. My 13 year marriage bedroom has enough impediments, don't need ED too.

I did all the research myself, this is OTC stuff so no prescription needed. The oral is obviously easier (pop a pill and you're done) vs the topical but the results are not as good, both clinically (less growth) and directionally (for example you get hair all over with oral). Add to that the side effects are more serious (including some heart stuff) and I decided to just go with the topical.

You just totally sold me on using the topical over the oral. Thanks, Bome Bone.

Would you mind sharing the link for the minoxidil you’ve been using?

Youngest of 3 brothers, oldest brother has full head of hair, middle brother thinning,I been thinning since my middle forties and now shave it to the bone.I blame the environment I worked in as the bakery was always filled with steam/grease that probably clogged my pores. The only thing I dislike about being bald is that in the winter it’s cold as fuck and I need to wear a toque.

Here you go @Tron

Amazon Basic Care Minoxidil Topical Solution USP, 5 Percent, Hair Regrowth Treatment for Men, Extra Strength, 12 Fluid Ounces https://a.co/d/ePJPOFw

I apply in the am and massage it in, then an hour or two before bed and rub it in. If you put on a hat or lie on a pillow <30mins after applying it'll get greasy/stained. You don't want to shower it off for ideally 4 hours.

You have to apply it daily for 3 months or more before seing results since it accumulates in the cells and hair follicles take a while to respond. Missing days can set you back. Research does show that 1 application is ALMOST as effective as 2 in most men so if you're having trouble sticking to it or find it too greasy/gross I'd suggest one nightly and then morning shower.

@Boner_18 , I noticed a few months ago when I read the box of Rogaine at Publix that it specifically said it was intended for regrowing hair in the crown area only but you (and another friend) said they use it on their entire scalp and it works in areas other than the crown as well.

Thoughts on that?

A little thinning at the crown for me, it's life.
All my friends that talked shit when I prematurely went bald, now are going bald themselves,Dingo getting last laugh once again.Only person in our group that hasn’t lost a stitch of hair is Greg,a Native American, fucker has hair like a chia pet.

I mostly apply to the crown but the dosage has it running all over so when I rub it in I spread it a bit towards the front. Seems to work.
