It's starting in just a few days.

Are you pumped? What event are you looking forward to most?

Can't wait to see Usain Bolt. And Lionel Messi. They are both top athletes and they are from the eligible region. Track and soccer are in the games. I'm sure they are both totally going to be here.

The games are costing 2.5 billion. You gotta have those guise, amirite?

I think the bicycle road race is going to go by close to where I live... I may go over to see them... I have passed up many opportunities to work on the set-up because there is way too much BS involved with certifications and accreditation and safety gear... They sent some guys home because their work boots were not 6" high... and tons of other stupid shit like that.

It's weird. I don't think I know anyone who is really giving a crap about this - except a few cheerleaders on the radio - but the warnings about traffic issues are pretty consistent. Borderline dire.

Who the fok are these maniacs who are going to be gumming up my fokken roads? :dunno:

lolz

Canada isn't even sending its best athletes to a majority of events.

Apparently we have a very promising young sprinter. Of the chatter I have heard, that's what interests me the most.

Jeff Francis is on the Canadian baseball team. I recognize that name. I think. Apparently we are the defending champions.

We have some bigger names among our manager and coaches. Ernie Whitt and Larry Walker and Paul Quantrill.

Stubby Clapp.

But that sprinter seems to be a realistic hope for the bigtime for the future so I guess I will keep an eye open for that.

Andre DeGrasse.

Ran a 9.75 and he's still pretty young.

NCAA Division 1 male track athlete of the year .

So there's something.

I heard a dude on the radio - involved in the organizing of this - say that there are two types of people in the world: people who do stuff and get bitched at, and people who do the bitching.

I feel like he was overlooking that there are also people who do stuff that doesn't suck, and people who have various appropriate reactions to that, in many cases, liking.

PanAm fever. Have you caught it yet?

I noticed on tv there was a huge group of people, mostly women, wearing Canadian hat and waving Canadian flags recently. This tv was on in the casino somewhere probably, there was no volume so I couldn't tell what was happening. But the crowd looked huge. It must've been the opening to these games. looked impressive :dunno:

they should have a roller hockey event, that would be cool
