I should probably try to limit myself to just speaking for myself but the idea came up of feeling sorry for the people at the Oscars and the first person I thought of - for whatever reason - was John Williams.

We both love music just as much - but here I am, alone after a day of packing headsets into courier bags. Meanwhile dudeguy has just been to his umpteenth Oscars, nominated again. Dude has spent his whole life doing what he loves. He can pick and choose his projects and gets paid unbelievably well. He is respected. His music is known by billions. It would have to be considered part of the soundtrack of our very civilization.

He has probably been able to get laid as much as he wants by super hot women since forever.

And people just keep wanting to give him more awards.

I'm sorry if I was obnoxious but the idea of pitying John Williams - or any number of those literally-living-a-dream-come-true people - while I sit here stuffing headsets into courier bags . . .

I dunno. I'm not feeling it.

just looked him up, he looks like a douche

at least he's more than just an actor.

I have no idea. I think protesting the Oscars is a ridiculous concept. Blacks need to get over the significance of white power structures appreciating(?) them. Need to build their own institutions and make the good ol boy/girl network irrelevant. ...which they've done to some degree.
I say privileged whites in the sense that metaphorically(?) speaking, that's the class who's responsible for grandma hanging from a tree.

I figure that if a Russian or Jew went to current day Germany and made a joke about how our grandmothers were hanging from trees in 1941, (even if there are Russians or Jews in the crowd) I would wanna bury him.

100% agree. The blacks hold themselves back more than anyone.

I thought Stacy Dash looked really good at the Oscars. A lot of people were confused about the meaning of her appearance - I was not confused, I just thought the attempted joke was very weak - probably more Chris Rock's fail than hers - but whatever, she looked good.

She got some eyes.

Took me a while to recognize her. I think that's the main reason the joke fell flat. Once I computed who she was, she was gone.

For anyone that missed it, the Stacy Dash thing was, she went on record a little while back saying she thought they should do away with Black History Month.

Then she shows up on the Oscars and says, "Happy Black History Month."

Get it?
