Goes Sunday night. Chris Rock hosting which might be interesting given the hullaballoo about the whiteness of the nominees. I look forward to his take.

Got my signature picks. May come up with a bit more - not sure. As usual, all the lines have moved so lop-sided for the favorites, there is probably not much value to be found at this point.

I am torn between Spotlight and The Revenant as my personal pick for Best Picture. Revenant is the betting fave @ -207 versus the field. Spotlight is +280. They are two very good movies anyway.

Good year of nominees all around IMO.

No dammit. Not a single one. I have seen all the regular domestic category nominees. I have seen all the animated except 1. Some foreign stuff in there.

But you just had to go and ask about hardcore foreign. No.

Have you seen any of them?

Adding a signature wager. Inarritu to win Best Director -800

Stupid. Coulda got a better line earlier, but what can I say: I had a bad experience in the past betting Best Director and I am gun-shy.

Back on the horse though.

Just air bets.

My bad experience was I bet (for real) Scorsese to win Best Director over Clint Eastwood for The Aviator over Million Dollar Baby.

It just seemed like it had to win. Think about the two movies. I like Million Dollar Baby but it's mainly just people walking around and gabbing. There are some boxing scenes but they are pretty phony, as boxing usually is in the movies. But The Aviator had all kinds of grand sets and stunts and effects to coordinate - and Scorsese did it as seamlessly as you could want.

I didn't expect Aviator to win Best Picture but Director?? It had to.

But no.

So ever since then I feel like I don't know what the fuck they are looking for. But anyway The Revenant is so full of grand stuff to be coordinated and integrated. Mad Max is kind of a hoot but it's amateur hour in comparison.

But we'll see.
