My wonderful wife recieved a double lung transplant last night, the 6.5hr surgery ending at 1130pm. Lots of recovery ahead for us.

This thread was a bit prescient... though it was created when her sister was about to receive a double lung (little did we know the disease is genetic).

If you gents are not donors, consider it. If you are already - thanks!

Not that it really matters to him (on ignore) but somebody let him know I'm wishing her a speedy recovery!

Jesus.

So sorry to hear what your family has been going through, Bone Bone. So heavy.

Wishing your wife a speedy and full recovery!

Thanks @MrMonkey!

She has been hospitalized for the last 7 weeks. We had a couple dry runs where we got a call 12-24 hours before she would have surgery but it gets called off for some reason (usually the lungs look good on imaging but not good once harvested).

We got a call for these Saturday AM and went through the process except this time it wasn't called off. They wheeled her in and 8 hours later I got a call that it went well. Now she's recovering on ventilation but she's making progress. Prob be in the hospital for 4 more weeks.
