I'm sure this has something to do with American networks. Bettman and NBC (??) know that, at this point, US viewers have other priorities in primetime and the game doesn't stand a chance.

So the dream is that inroads will be made in the U.S. market; a fanbase can be built and grow. Maybe down the road, critical mass can be achieved and it can be a proper primetime entity.

It's easy to say they are being dopes and trying to please 6 people at the expense of 6 million but it's not bad thinking from a business standpoint. It's a huge market.

It hasn't worked the last 11,267 attempts - but maybe this will be the one.

The reasoning by NHL for a 1 pm game is horrible. It's the end of school year and at 1 pm people have graduations, recitals, and all kinds of activities to attend. Then at 7pm when everything is over there is no hockey for dads to watch.

It's going to be a long day for me today. :sparesomecutter:

Not sure who I want to win.

On the one hand there is Stamkos, who missed the Olympics through no fault of his own - he wanted to play - and hopefully he will be a big part of Team Canada's future.

On the other hand we have Nash and St. Louis who have put in such good service in the past.

Prolly have to sit and watch for a few minutes and see what my gut tells me. I am guessing my gut will go with the traditional market and memories of Jean Ratelle and Ed Giacomin and whatnot - but sometimes my gut surprises me.

a lot easier to watch this shit if you're rooting for the under.

btw tomorrow Russia/Canada final in WC.
All your big names are playing. I don't like Russia's chances. The way they just played against US they will get killed. Hopefully somebody there has an epiphany overnight.
