So I was looking over Coppola's filmography. I didn't realize he directed Jack, that god awful movie where Robin Williams plays a kid trapped in an adult's body.

How the fuck did the man responsible for historically great films such as GF1, GF2, Conversation, and Apocalypse Now stoop so low?

Maybe somebody made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

:dunno:

dailyflix...if its not a clear and cleaned up TS or dvdrip, i wont bother either, but there are some pretty savvy video guys over there...there is usually a version or 2 worth watching after a week or so of the movie release....it doesnt have to be dvd quality for me to watch on the computer while working...:donthinkso:

As a hater of tradition, one tradition I am glad to see petering out is the long intro-song/titles for TV shows. The show House of Lies has it right. No song. Flash the name of the show for about 1 second and then get on with it. I see more of that and it is good. LOST was an aggravating, confounding show but they had that figured out anyway.

The Rockford Files had one of the better intro songs - same for The Sopranos - but both about an hour and a half too long for the start of a TV show. They were like a rain delay.

Some shows go with the short song. Family Guy would be an example of an acceptable length song (although less would be even better).

Dexter, Nurse Jackie ---> too fucking much intro.

I like Breaking Bad's method; good intro scene to get you hyped up then very brief intro. No need for filler go straight to the meat.

Yeah they've got the no extended theme song idea figured out. As I recall they run title credits over the opening "action." I guess that's what a lot of shows do including House of Lies and LOST. I find that unnecessary and a bit distracting but it's better than stopping everything just to list a bunch of names that are listed at the end anyway.

I guess that's the compromise.

I'll tell you what the problem is: people.

People are not just cockroaches, they are retarded. People are retarded cockroaches.

I recall a discussion at some other forum about favorite TV theme songs and someone said Three's Company.

I had always suspected that people were retarded cockroaches but that's when I knew for sure.

The Daily Show has a reasonable intro. They say the date which is certainly relevant and then they have a bit of music which I could do without but I suppose it satisfies the need for some kind of soothing repetition which the retarded cockroaches require. But it doesn't go on all that long.

I'm trying to think of what shows I watch. I don't watch many shows and a bunch of them are on hiatus. As I recall, The Newsroom has too much intro for my taste. I think Veep and Girls are okay though. At least The Simpsons throws a couple little variations into it every time. South Park could use a shortened version. Shameless ---> too long. I was watching Burn Notice for awhile there - maybe there will still be more ---> that intro is a bit much. They explain the whole premise every time. It's like they are constantly on the lookout for someone watching for the first time. It's probably not stupid of them but I don't have to like it.

Jeopardy is pretty apt.

60 Minutes kicks ass. Just fucking get to it mutherfuckers. Thumbs up to the 60 Minutes intro.

Is that really all the TV I watch now? Oh Mad Men. Nicely done intro and not as long as some - but I could do with even less.

Really though (slight tangent) what's the deal with TV/movie ending credits? All that shit.

I buy a bag of chips, I don't care about the name of the dude who drove the forklift that carried the packaging materials from warehouse to production.

Why would I want to know the name of the frickin' dolly grip for a movie?

It's not there for you. It's so the people who made the thing are properly credited for it. Not to mention copyrighting and legal notices.

Hey what is the deal with this show, How to Make it in America?

One of my movie channel appears to be running a marathon of catch-up episodes.

I see Luis Guzman is in it. I like Luis Guzman just fine but I'm not sure he can single-handedly sell me a show.

Anyone familiar with it?
