I also liked True Detective. I have a fear they might be pushing a little harder than I like with a theme of magical interconnectedness of all things. It is a theme which writer/producers try once in awhile - Crash, Traffic, Babel are some examples that come to mind - it's not a technique I love - but we'll see.

I had no problem with VV but I feel a strong need for more information about his character than anyone else.

Hey here's a question: chicky-poo that Taylor Kitsch is with - is that the supposed missing sister that the other chicky-poo reported to Rachel McAdams earlier in the episode?

also.... Colin Farrell spawned this in true detective?

Well that is a huge thing they're pushing. SPOILER ALERT (Sorry, I probably should have used one of those before too)

Is it his kid or the biological son of a rapist?

No one knows.

I suspect a paternity test will be ordered - against Colin's resistance - before all is said and done.

Yeah, no denying the impact. There are still a dozen+ little catch-phrases you can lob into any conversation and everyone knows what you are talking about and it's good for a laugh.

I still remember the big hit I was at my sister's wedding with a strategically deployed, "These pretzels are making me thirsty."

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

No but seriously man, SERIES finale of Nurse Jackie goes tonight. It was a decent show for awhile that had some cache, but I feel like it is going out with a whimper.

Like it has not gone downhill like, say, Dexter - but I am feeling no regret that it will be gone.

One wildcard: they have a chance to do something really ballsy around the subject of addictions. I am curious if they will go for it.

But I am betting no.

Sometimes my DVR/PVR cuts off the very end of shows. I guess the stations don't run them exactly within the half-hour blocks - but the programming doesn't know any better - so a show will cut out before it's over.

It actually happens fairly often. Seems like the kind of thing that shouldn't happen in this day and age - either the stations or the equipment should sync up somehow.

Whatever, it happens. A little too often really. But you re-record at a later time - along with the show that follows - learn how it ends the next day or whatever.

Humorously, this happened with the Nurse Jackie series finale. SPOILER ALERT. She has taken an overdose and is lying on the ground and we don't know if the title character will live or die. That's all that was going on when it cut out.

I would not find this so humorous if it was something I gave more of a shit about. Fortunately there will probably be no spoilers to dodge. I can't remember anyone talking about Nurse Jackie in years.

How stupid is that though?
