Michael Shannon double-bill over the last couple days.

Very interesting actor that I like a lot so far. Seems to always play slightly - if not extremely - off-kilter characters.

The Iceman (2012) - Very straight forward telling of a true story about a man leading a double life between crime and family. Not deeply inspired but watchable.

6.8 out of 10

Take Shelter (2011) - Trippy, moody, ambiguous movie. Good performances. It ended up being not quite what I thought it was about - and I was mad at the ending at first - but on further contemplation, I am liking it.

7.4 out of 10.

Did anybody see Take Shelter? That movie is lingering with me. Most peculiar and interesting.

Totally caught me making expectations in the wrong direction. All the way through, I was thinking, this could be a high rating depending how they decide to go with this. Immediately after it ended I was mad and ready to rate it 4.4. But then I had to calmly think it through and get around these false assumptions and expectations. I was all like Ohhhhhhh. 7. Now I'm upping my rating to 8.

Trying to figure out the deal with Don Draper and the waitress. Seems like they're going out of their way to show there is no chemistry between them. I wonder what they are getting at.

They seemed to be nudging us towards how she resembled Rachel Whatever from several seasons ago. I just don't remember that being much more than one in a series of boozy flings.

:dunno:

Shannon is awesome thanks man.

Couple of interesting season premiers for Nurse Jackie and Veep.

Nurse Jackie - Wow. How far down the road of making her a despicable person are they going to take it? Some real insight into addictions and no sugar-coating.

Veep - That was hilarious. It's always been a show that was good enough to keep me going - but that was a hilarious episode.

Okay really though: what do we think of 2001: A Space Odyssey?

Some of the techno-futurology is surprisingly accurate, especially regarding wireless communications.

I totally get that it's a technical tour de force on so many levels. The ingenuity is astounding.

But as a movie-watching experience in 2015: fokkin borefest.

Don Draper wants something special with a new woman instead of just a fling yet it ends very prematurely: :greencheck:

Don Draper gives away all of his money: :greencheck:

Don Draper comes home to an apartment with no furniture: :greencheck:

Seems like Don Drapers death is just around the corner, fellas.
