I agree, but I have been on that bandwagon for a while as most here probably already know. Guy is incredible.

sometimes i cant tell if he is trying to really hard act a certain way or if he is just being himself and has issues... because of that, i find myself laughing at him... which isnt always a good thing in the middle of dramas

If memory serves, the film in IB was some kind of glorious propaganda movie that has attracted all the Nazi bigwigs into that one place.

American Sniper is, to me, a propaganda movie so it's comparable. I would like to give Clint Eastwood credit and say he is purposely showing the immense power of propaganda to turn simpletons into savage killing machines (on both sides by the way), but I don't think that's the case. I think he is either brainwashed himself, or else he is making a conscious, informed decision to further the pro-American propagandization, either for "patriotic" reasons or perhaps just for cynical commercial purposes.

My guess is his motivation is about 81% gullible patriot. I would not be surprised if the Nazis making their propaganda felt the same way. Ends justify the means and so on.

Come to think of it, that movie in IB may well have been about a German sniper with all the circumstances ridiculously manipulated for maximum heroic effect. So it's specifically comparable.

Now how the motivations of the Nazis compare to the Bush regime waging war in Iraq is up for debate. While both were very insidious IMO, the Nazis were quite a bit moreso - again, IMO - so the comparison is over-the-top in that regard.

My 2 cents.

Yes, yes indeed.

Rogen had to backpedal a little bit after tweeting that.

But his observation makes me less likely to watch AS. I have little doubt that an old loon like Clint Eastwood would engage into some twisted aggrandization of the truth.

It was an interesting viewing experience for me. I found the movie very fascinating and watchable while at the same time finding it to the discredit of its creator.

I took from it a very strong message of, you know - war is hell - look at the insanely terrible things humans do to each other for ridiculous reasons - will we ever learn? - as much as any movie that ever set out explicitly to deliver that important message. It was an interesting, frightening study of propaganda, cause-and-effect. But that was only because I brought my pre-existing education into it. If that was any part of Eastwood's intention, it was down the list.

MrX
So, Inherent Vice was amazing. No surprise there. See it.

MrX
See it in the theater. It's one of the best movies you'll see in awhile.

Not sure if I'm in the market for a tv show at the moment, but I'll check it out if I go that route.

Is MrX a dummy too?
