Drive (2011) - If you, like me, expect this to be a racing movie, don't. It's not a racing movie.

Interesting bit of filmmaking. I'm sure there's tons of references to cult noir flicks that I did not get.

There's lots of blood and Ryan Gosling is slow.

7.8 Matty Rains out of a possible 10.0 Matty Rains

I think Drive was the movie where I finally figured out that Ryan Gosling can't act. I mean, okay, he can act. He's probably better than me.

But the early career hype including an Oscar nomination had me confused. It felt like something must be going on even though my eyes weren't seeing it.

Then I saw Drive. No. Nothing going on.

Re Game of Thrones, I am also somewhat put off by the repeated references to Sansa Stark as being beautiful. I realize that beauty is subjective and just about anything appears beautiful to someone.

But it has been my observation as I have gone through life for over half a century that there is simply too few people that consider a forehead the size of Greenland to be aesthetically pleasing for this ongoing admiration of Sansa to make sense.

Here is what I am very dubious about. (Game of Thrones again.)

I realize it sets up wonderfully entertaining pro rasslin' type situations - but this idea that someone on trial can just stop the proceedings and say he wants a trial by combat thru a champion makes no sense.

Like, just because a guy has a buddy who's a really good fighter, he can go on the crime spree of the century including killing any number of kings with impunity?

Again, I see the entertainment value for a TV show but real-world sense? (Well, real-fake-world.) Not seeing it.

Not seeing it.
