I don't think the bike flew off the cliff. You can see the two bikes parked to the left of the road (this was in England) of his two buddies and his bike is parked to the right by the stone fence. I think he hit the stone fence which was about the height of the bike and even he went airborne.
Basically he was going too fast on a sharp turn. Even if there was no car coming from the other direction he would have hit the fence. He wasn't paying attention to the signs or the markings on the pavement.
