Nice!

Can't you rent a large cargo van through Zipcar? That's how I brought back my bike when I bought it. Just need a couple of ratcheting tie-downs to secure the bike.

90 minutes in near-freezing temps is one hell of a first ride.

I'll be more worried for ice on the road for a novice rider. Very dangerous if you don't know how to ride. Breaking will be tricky.

Blitty ask the guy if he can ride it to your place and pay him for his time and gas. Give him a tip too!

Matty, did you have to pay the sales tax to the dmv when you got it registered?

I've never paid tax on a craigslist item before. I guess I should have wrote it in as a gift..?

Thats was another $300 expenditure I wasn't expecting..

If you know someone that drives an SUV with a hitch you can just rent U-Haul's motorcycle trailer, which is like $30.

You can also borrow someone's Zipcar card and rent a cargo van. You just need 2 guys to lift the bike in the van. That's what I did.

Yeah. Did they check up the value or did you declare it? I declared it to be worth $500 and paid like 60 bucks in tax.

Are you saying you would never layer up and ride an hour in 40 degree weather? It's that bad?

No, I did and I would. It's just going to suck, especially if you have to deal with traffic. My left hand would give up after 30 minutes of riding when I started.

Guess it depends how heavy your clutch is.

I paid 3500 and declared 2500.

Could I of gotten busted for declaring 500-1000?

Dunno. $500 was a totally plausible price in my case. You probably could've gotten away with $1500.

But I've heard stories of people getting screwed after they tried to lowball beyond reason. Ontario clerks have access to used values if they don't believe you and want to be dicks.

Just got my helmet in mail. Now I have all the gear.

I wasn't expecting it to come in today, so I already ordered a Uhaul trailer to pick up in the morning.

Need to decide if I'm just gonna pick it up OR cancel the trailer and take the bus to go pick up bike and ride back.

Decisions decisions.

I also have the black closeout textile jacket from Revzilla.

Nice. Full face or modular?

Haven't been on the bike since last Saturday. Mornings are icy.

Oh and my buddy crashed his near-mint FZR600 last Friday - accelerated too hard into a corner, on cold tires. Rear fishtailed and sent him flying over the bike. He's okay but he's caused for like $1000 of damage to his fairings. These old plastics are extremely expensive. :fok:
