Matty, you and I could make mad rupees on that thing. Indians love watching foreigners do anything. Allison and I would play scrabble at some chai shop or on a bench or whatever, and soon there would be, like, twenty people standing around watching. Scrabble. In a language they don't know.

Most of them can speak at least some English, especially in more urban areas, yes. The ones gathering around the scrabble games in the Himalayan villages, not so much.

They were not fascinated with the scrabble game, they were like moths to the flame watching the non putrid smelling, very attractive, milky white aliens that landed in their playground.

when'd you last go to india? I remember telling people here that it's like playing frogger on the streets. I don't think they realize that people die daily from being hit because they didn't give right of way.

I was there for a few months last spring. Renting a motorcycle was interesting. Pretty mellow in the mountains up north, but riding in the more urban areas of Goa was nutso. It would have been nutso, anyway, but riding on the left side of the road for the first time, on a strange bike, in those conditions. Wheee!

When were you in India? Where did you go?
